At 783 route de Murs in Gordes, in the Vaucluse, at the heart of the Luberon (Provence) — about a ten-minute walk from the village center. The nearest stations are Avignon TGV (about 50 minutes), Cavaillon and L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue (about 25 minutes).

Where can I park to visit Gordes?

Staying with us, you don’t have to look: parking is free on the property, and the village is a ten-minute walk away. In the village, parking is paid from 8 am to 7 pm and fills up fast in summer, especially on Tuesdays, market day.

A guest says

“The market on Tuesday is fun but looking for parking is not!”

Can I walk to the village?

Yes, in about ten minutes along a path that starts from the property. It is downhill on the way there and uphill on the way back. At night, the stretch of path up to the road is unlit: bring your phone flashlight.

A guest says

“a 10 minute walk and not too demanding on the way back uphill”

Ian B. · Tripadvisor
Is the house suitable for guests with reduced mobility?

Not easily. The villa is an old house on several levels, with many steps both in the rooms and around the grounds. If stairs are a concern, tell us before you book: we will tell you honestly what to expect, room by room.

Your stay

Does the family have other houses?

Yes. We also run an apartment in Beausoleil, on the border of Monaco, the Palais Florentin (one bedroom, south-facing terrace, sea view). Our brother, in Finland, rents two log chalets in Ruka, Villa Kelo and Villa Tundra, and runs the Hunurijärvi Resort, on a lake in South Ostrobothnia. Each address is booked on its own website.

Is breakfast included?

Yes. A continental breakfast is included and served by the pool. Eggs and savory extras (cheese, ham) are available à la carte, at an extra charge.

Are there house rules?

A few, and they matter: quiet hours run from 10 pm to 8 am, parties are not allowed, and smoking is not permitted indoors (there are spaces outside). With only five rooms, everyone’s quiet depends on everyone else.

Can we book the whole villa?

Yes. The five rooms sleep up to twelve: ideal for a family gathering, a group of friends or wedding guests. The villa remains a guesthouse where you sleep, not a venue.

See also: The whole house →

If we book all the rooms, can meals be organized at the house?

Yes. When you book all five rooms for your group of friends or your family, everything can be tailored: we can organize every meal at the house, from breakfast to dinner, around your wishes, your timings and your guests. Let’s talk about it when you book.

Pool & gardens

Is the pool heated?

Yes. The outdoor pool, about 17 × 6 m, is heated: the water stays between 26 and 29 °C through the season, depending on the weather. In the height of summer, in July and August, the sun does the work and the heating is switched off. After an hour in the sun, the first dive can feel cool: that is the contrast, not the water. It sits in about two and a half hectares (6 acres) of wooded grounds.

A guest says

“The heated pool is also very beautiful and well maintained.”

Gordes & the Luberon

How long does it take to visit Gordes?

Two to four hours are enough for the historic center: the cobbled lanes, the château, the viewpoint. Allow a full day to add a nearby site, such as Sénanque Abbey, about fifteen minutes away, or the Village des Bories.

See also: Gordes in one day →

What is there to see in and around Gordes?

The hilltop village and its cobbled lanes, the château, the view over the valley, the Tuesday market, and close by Sénanque Abbey and its lavender fields. From the villa: Roussillon is 20 minutes away, L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue and Fontaine-de-Vaucluse 25, Lourmarin 35, Avignon 50.

See also: Things to do in Gordes →The Luberon →

What day is the Gordes market?

Tuesday, from 8 am to 1 pm, at the foot of the château — about a ten-minute walk from the villa. Go early, before 9 am, to avoid the crowds and the hunt for a parking space.

See also: Gordes market →

When can I see the lavender around Gordes?

In summer, but flowering varies with the year, the altitude and the field: we would rather not publish a calendar that would be wrong one summer in two. The fields at Sénanque Abbey are about fifteen minutes from the villa; write to us before your stay and we will tell you how the flowering is going.
