The Villa

A house, not a hotel.

Five rooms, twelve guests at most, two and a half hectares (6 acres) of grounds — and the village of Gordes a ten-minute walk away. Villa Hautvallon is a Provençal house run by its hosts, not an address you could swap for any other.

We are not a hotel, and that is a choice (hotel or guesthouse in Gordes? an honest comparison). No night reception desk, no room service, nothing standardized. Instead: a stone house where we greet you ourselves, five rooms that each have their own character, and all the time you need for breakfast by the pool.

What difference does that make? Quiet, first of all — never more than twelve guests on two and a half hectares. And the chance to live in Gordes rather than just visit it: walk to the village in the evening, once the tour buses have gone, then come back for dinner or a book in the garden. And when all twelve guests are yours, the whole house can be booked as one — how a stay with friends works is set out in Gordes with friends.

The estate in figures

Two and a half hectares to yourselves.

  • 2.5 ha (6 acres) of wooded grounds, century-old trees
  • 5 rooms, twelve guests at most
  • 17 × 6 m (56 × 20 ft) heated outdoor pool
  • 10 min on foot from the heart of Gordes
  • thousands of roses — the big event in May

Your host

Jean-François, and the art of hosting.

He is the one who opens the door, tells you the best time to walk down to the village, books your table and points you to the winemakers he knows. A welcome that is “personal, even family-like, but not intrusive,” in the words of one guest (translated from French).
