The address book

Five winemakers, not a wine route.

The estates we recommend, with the address when it appears on their own website, and the hours they post. We call them before you go. We do not map every winery in the Luberon.

The garden at Villa Hautvallon, cypresses and rose bushes

A useful tasting happens in a cellar where someone has time, not in four stops photographed from the parking lot. From Villa Hautvallon, in Gordes, we keep five: Domaine Trélus, Mas des Infermières, Château La Canorgue, Domaine de la Citadelle, Domaine Les Davids. These are the names in the house address book. Others exist. They are not our list.

The hours below were read on the estates’ websites on October 18, 2026. They change. The safe move is to ask us again, or to call the estate yourself the day before. None of these visits is included in the nightly rate. Breakfast is.

The five

What their websites allow us to say.

Domaine Trélus

1825 route de l’Isle, 84800 Saumane-de-Vaucluse. Phone +33 4 90 94 80 22. Their contact page lists the tasting cellar as open October to March, Monday to Saturday, 11 am–6 pm, and April to September, every day, 11 am–7 pm. For groups of more than eight, visits are booked by email. They describe a tasting of their wines with the cellar master. We do not add a driving time we have not measured from our gate.

Domaine de la Citadelle

At the foot of Ménerbes — Ménerbes is listed among the Plus Beaux Villages de France (the “most beautiful villages of France”), in their words — on the north slope of the Luberon, farmed organically. Yves Rousset-Rouard started here in 1990, on an 8-hectare (20-acre) farm. At the end of 2022, Valérie and Yannick Panagiotis took over the estate. The website lists it as open every day, 10 am–7 pm, with two things to visit on site: the corkscrew museum and the botanical garden. We do not copy an admission price.

Domaine Les Davids

Route de Banon, 84750 Viens. Phone +33 4 90 04 97 48. The tasting cellar is listed as open Tuesday to Saturday, 11 am–6 pm, and Sunday, 11 am–5 pm. The estate also has a terrace, a bakehouse and accommodation: that is not our subject. We send you there for the wine, not to sleep. Check the day, especially out of season, before driving all the way to Viens.

Château La Canorgue

In the Luberon Regional Nature Park, between Avignon and Aix, as they place themselves — we do not add a village name their homepage does not give. In the same family for more than two hundred years. Jean-Pierre Margan has farmed it organically since the 1970s; his daughter Nathalie is the fifth generation. Phone +33 4 90 75 81 01. The cellar hours are on their website. We do not freeze them on this page, and we do not turn the property into a movie-location stop.

Mas des Infermières

The fifth name, the one we have listed with the others from the start. We have not found, on an official page of the estate, an address and opening hours stable enough to print without risking a mistake. If Infermières is the estate you want, tell us: we call, and we confirm the day with you. Better an empty box than a wrong road.

The table in the garden at Villa Hautvallon

How we do it

Two cellars, lunch, then home.

Tell us white, red, or “anything, as long as someone explains it.” We call. You leave with a time, not a list of five. The afternoon ends back at the house: the pool, then dinner. Some evenings, a dinner or a barbecue is offered at the villa; an outside private chef can be arranged on request. Otherwise, Jean-François books you a table in Gordes, within walking distance. The three names we have already noted are on restaurants in Gordes.

October is the season when the cellars have the most time. So does the village. It is all in October in Gordes, with the house rates when the day’s snapshot shows them. The address book that brings together the market, the viewpoints and these five names can be downloaded from the guest guide.

The experiences page remains the overview: markets, golden hour, seasons. Here, there is only wine.

October leaves more time at the cellar than a Saturday in July. It is not a rule the estates write down; it is what we find when we call. In summer, set off earlier in the afternoon, or on a weekday. What we ask before calling: an easy-drinking white or a red for keeping, how many of you there are, and whether anyone is not drinking — a serious cellar has water and time, not just glasses. Leave after lunch, not on an empty stomach, and be back before dinner. Two estates in an afternoon is the most we suggest. The third glass is for the house, from a bottle bought at the estate, in the garden, not behind the wheel. We do not give driving times between Gordes and Viens or Saumane: we have not measured them for this page. The estate will confirm them along with the time. And if the day’s drive is too long, the bottle bought the day before can be opened in the garden: that is not a failed plan.

Do you need to book a wine tasting?

For a small group, often not, within the hours the estate posts. Trélus asks for an email for groups of more than eight. We call ahead for you if you tell us when you book: give us the day and the number of people.

Can you visit several wineries in one day?

Two, not five. The estates are not on the same road: Trélus is in Saumane-de-Vaucluse, La Citadelle at the foot of Ménerbes, Les Davids in Viens. Working through the whole list leaves both the wine and the driving in poor shape. We plan around your tastes.

Are the opening hours guaranteed?

No. They are the hours the estates posted as of October 18, 2026. A harvest, a public-holiday weekend or a closing day can change them. Check the day before, or let us call.

Back to sleep after the cellar: the five rooms, in Gordes, check-out at 11 am.
